That first day of travel, driving alone... holy cow! My personal record was a 16-hour day from Peoria, IL to Cheyenne, WY. I miscalculated the distance I would need to drive to make it to Salt Lake City in two days, and WAY overdrove that first day. I was okay, though. I just wouldn't do it again. :D

I do feel for you and your husband. I've been in your shoes, though off and on, not for a consistent, progressive duration. And I know that it is hard on BOTH parties, despite what people might think.
