It feels so weird to be removed from Tallahassee. It didn't feel right to be far away and safe, while all my friends were dealing with chaos. But I'm never removed from the dread of climate change. Did you hear about the new UN scientists' report re: climate catastrophe by 2040? And then the rebuttal reports saying "no, actually, that's a best case scenario"? My worst fears are actualizing :(
You did such a great job with putting us into that crisis-mode mindset, where so many things are going on that it feels like simultaneously the brain is everywhere, yet also narrowing its field of vision to see only what's necessary for survival. I also really like the take on the prompt, examining how what we've constructed through years of effort bears so much meaning to us...yet can also be non-essential and not define us. A lot of deft exploration into important dualities in this piece, and in such an intimate, human way! Love it!
